La F4 Cup porta l’azione delle monoposto nei FIA Motorsport Games

As the sole single-seater representative at the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games, the F4 Cup is certain to attract plenty of attention when the event launches later this year in Rome (1-3 November).

Though it is a new addition to the sporting landscape, F4 has rapidly established itself as the leading entry-level series across the globe. Created by the FIA in 2013, the discipline seeks to provide young drivers with the most complete foundation possible in single-seater racing, while also striving for the highest safety standards.

With that in mind, a groundbreaking new Formula 4 car has been designed and built specifically for this year's FIA Motorsport Games, a project that was undertaken by KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG). The car will be the first hybrid-powered single-seater outside Formula 1 and the first F4 machine to feature a Halo safety device.

As such, the F4 drivers who represent their home countries at this year’s FIA Motorsport Games will be part of something truly unique. In terms of competitors, each National Sporting Authority (ASN) will be able to nominate one driver. With thriving F4 series to be found across Europe, Asia and the Americas, there will be no shortage of qualified candidates.

The category will utilise an “arrive and drive” format, with all cars operated by accomplished single-seater squad Hitech GP. They will use identical set-ups and limited tyres, while data will be shared between all drivers and engineers. This will ensure that the F4 Cup is a true test of driver ability, with the competition focussed solely on each competitor’s on-track performance.

Their event will begin on Friday 1 November with a pair of free practice sessions lasting 45 minutes. Qualifying will follow on Saturday morning, setting the grid for a 20-minute qualification race later that day. This in turn will establish the starting order for Saturday's deciding race. It will be a winner-takes-all format, with the gold medal awarded to whoever takes the chequered flag first on Sunday.

Scheduled for 1-3 November and with Vallelunga Circuit staging the on-track action, the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games will see competitors from across the globe chase gold, silver and bronze medals in six distinctive racing categories. The F4 Cup will run alongside the GT Cup, Drifting Cup, Touring Car Cup, Karting Slalom Cup and Digital Cup, with the results from each producing an overall medal table. The top National Sporting Authority (ASN) awarded the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games trophy during the closing ceremony in Rome.
