18-strong entry list for inaugural FIA GT Nations Cup

GT showpiece to be hosted at Bahrain International Circuit next month

The first-ever FIA GT Nations Cup has attracted an 18-strong entry list with countries from around the world set to battle for one of GT racing’s newest and most prestigious prizes.

Held at the Bahrain International Circuit on 1 December 2018, the event will pit nation against nation in a patriotic twist on the traditional racing format.

With entries open to one car representing one nation, this year’s inaugural edition impressively welcomes competitors from across Europe, Asia, Australasia, North America and South America.

A diverse blend of seasoned GT racers, burgeoning talents and sportscar debutants comprise the FIA GT Nations Cup with cars being shared by one Silver and one Bronze-rated driver. Each crew must hold a passport of the country that they are representing.

The European contingent brings with it strong GT pedigree as the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Belarus, Sweden, Denmark, Russia and Turkey form its attack on the FIA GT Nations Cup.

Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand and China ensures that Asia will be well placed for victory at the event, whilst Mexico, Argentina and Australia complete the stellar line-up.

Competing cars will meet FIA GT3 regulations racing over two practice sessions, two qualifying sessions, two qualifying races of sixty minutes each, and a third and final race of sixty minutes to determine the overall winners.

The final line-up includes seven different marques with Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Nissan, Mercedes, McLaren and Porsche machinery all vying for glory.

Competing crews can be supported by any team, as it does not need to be a team of the same nationality. Teams can also run multiple cars of different nationalities should they wish to do so, with the likes of the experienced AF Corse, Rinaldi Racing and Herberth Motorsport squads boasting multiple entries.

The first edition of the FIA GT Nations Cup, promoted by SRO Motorsports Group in collaboration with the Bahrain International Circuit will take place from 30th November to 1st December 2018.
