Fanatec Esports: Team Brazil sets the pace in qualifying

Action kicked off today in the FIA Motorsport Games Fanatec Esports Cup at Circuit Paul Ricard, with Team Brazil’s Igor Rodrigues setting the pace in general qualifying today.

With a massive field of 57 entries, qualifying was split into three groups. Rodrigues, aboard a McLaren 720S GT3, stopped the clocks with a best time of 01:52.470 around the Assetto Corsa Competizione virtual version of Circuit Paul Ricard.

The top three in qualifying today will start on pole in three separate heats tomorrow (Friday). Netherlands Chris Harteveld was second fastest, 0.257 of a second behind Rodrigues.

Team UK’s James Baldwin topped the times in practice this morning before setting the third-fastest time in qualifying.

The remaining top ten qualifiers included Team Türkiye (Ulas Ozyildirim) in fourth; Team Czech Republic (Martin Kadlečík) fifth; Team Japan (Sota Muto) sixth; Team Spain (Alberto Garcia Gomez) seventh; Team Australia (Philippa Boquida) eighth; Team Poland (Marcin Świderek) ninth; and Team Greece (Harris Mitropoulos) 10th.
