Team Denmark reveals full driver line-up for inaugural FIA Motorsport Games bid

Team Denmark has confirmed its full driver line-up for the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games in Rome, where Danish competitors will tackle five of the six categories that make up the 1-3 November event.

This represents the second nation to reveal its complete compliment of racers, with Danish participation set in the GT, Formula 4, Drifting, Karting Slalom and Digital categories. The entry was confirmed by the DASU, Denmark’s national motorsport association.

“We have a strong team across the disciplines, but since we do not yet know the participants of the other nations it is impossible to say where we stand,” commented DASU sports director Bo Baltzer Nielsen. “But it is an exciting initiative and a great showcase for the participants in an official FIA event and across such different motorsport disciplines, and we hope for several days packed with entertainment,” he added.

The nation's GT Cup hopes will be carried by Jens Reno Moller and Christina Nielsen, who will drive a Honda NSX GT3 Evo run by brand specialist JAS Motorsport. Bronze-graded Moller ranks among Europe's leading amateur racers, with experience at the Le Mans 24 Hours and in a variety of GT and touring car series. His teammate Nielsen, meanwhile, is an accomplished GT driver across a range of international series. Her biggest successes have come on the American continent, where she has captured a brace of IMSA SportsCar titles in the highly competitive GTD category.

In the Formula 4 Cup, Team Denmark will be represented by Malthe Jakobsen. The 15-year-old currently leads his domestic F4 championship and isa former Danish junior karting champion. The promising teenager has also been a front-runner in Asian F4 and was Danish F4’s rookie champion in 2018.Team Denmark’s Drifting Cup hopes will be carried by Dennis Hansen and his D.H. Motorsport squad. Hansen has experience in the Drift Masters European Championship and the domestic Nordic Drift Series piloting a 900hp Nissan Silvia.

In the Digital Cup, Ian Andersen will fly the Danish flag on Gran Turismo Sport for PlayStation4. He recently won the domestic DASU Cup with the same game and has participated in sim races and tournaments for more than a decade, both at the domestic level and internationally. As Andersen is deaf, his exploits will be closely followed by the Danish Deaf Sports Federation. Finally, in the Karting Slalom Cup, Jonas Jakobsen and Sarah Kronborg Madsen will drive for Denmark after excelling when their class participated in the DASU's school project.

"Almost all the participants are well known in both Danish and international motorsport, while we have chosen to give winners from our school project an extra experience based on their efforts," said Mikkel Bøyesen, who is responsible for DASU's school project.

Dansk Automobil Sports Union President Henrik Møller-Nielsen:“We are very excited to be part of the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games and hope it will be a successful venture for our Danish athletes. We believe it will be a great opportunity for our drivers to showcase their talent and we can’t wait to cheer on them.”

The FIA Motorsport Games will officially begin with the opening ceremony in Rome on 31 October, followed by three days of on-track action at Vallelunga Circuit. The results from each category will produce an overall medal table, with the top National Sporting Authority (ASN) awarded the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games trophy during the closing ceremony in Rome.
