The inaugural FIA Motorsport Games will officially begin on Thursday (October 31) with a spectacular parade and opening ceremony staged amongst Rome’s historical landmarks.

33 cars representing the FIA Motorsport Games’ GT, Formula 4, Touring Car and Drift categories will kick off the weekend by driving from Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana via famous landmarks such as the Colosseum en route to Circo Massimo.

The same historic chariot racing arena will then host an opening ceremony featuring the 196 drivers and 51 registered National Sporting Authorities (ASN) contesting the FIA’s inaugural nation versus nation competition.

Le Mans 24 Hours legend, Tom Kristensen, and Rome’s mayor, Virginia Elena Raggi, will be on hand to welcome this year’s competitors before the first track action begins at Vallelunga Circuit, located just outside the host city, on Friday.

Cars are expected to leave Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana at 15:00 and arrive at Circo Massimo one hour later, before the opening ceremony begins at 18:00.

Tickets for this weekend’s event at Vallelunga are also free when downloaded in advance from www.fiamotorsportgames.com/tickets-request.

Equally, fans around the world can watch Thursday’s opening ceremony and all three days of track action live on the event’s website and Facebook page, as well as FIA.com.

Drivers are battling for gold, silver and bronze across six different disciplines this weekend. The GT Cup, Touring Car Cup, Formula 4 Cup, Drifting Cup, Karting Slalom Cup and Digital Cup all begin on Friday before medals are won on Saturday and Sunday. The first ASN to be crowned FIA Motorsport Games champion will be awarded the trophy during Sunday evening’s closing ceremony.
